About Me



Hiba Tahir is responsible for the contemporary young adult novel DEAR NUMBER 43, for which she is currently seeking representation.

She is the former managing editor of The Student Printz, the University of Southern Mississippi’s student newspaper, which also published her award-winning weekly humor column “Swipe Right.” She currently serves as editor-in-chief of The Catalyst, USM’s undergraduate research journal, and is research assistant to internationally bestselling author David McRaney.

Hiba will graduate with a B.A. in English and news-editorial journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2018. She will graduate with an MFA in poetry from the University of Arkansas in 2022.

Previously, her work has appeared in SPINE MagazineThe Bolivar Commercial and its Spotlight Magazine, The Sun Heraldand USM’s literary journal Product 31.

In addition to writing, Hiba enjoys photography, traveling, wallowing in her Kafkaesque existence, and mozzarella sticks.
